These lessons present the syntax of Alfred’s prose as described by Johann Ernst Wülfing, Die Syntax in den Werken Alfreds des Grossen (Bonn: P. Hanstein, 1894–1897). They complement the morphology lessons under Old English Grammar, which follow C. Alphonso Smith.
Each page carries a Loquentes translation and abridgement of Wülfing’s German
explanation, condensing repetitive example catalogues while preserving Wülfing’s
full conceptual rules, authentic citations, and Old English examples exactly as
printed. The full cleaned German original is provided in a collapsible block for
reference. The printed edition (Bonn: P. Hanstein, 1894/1897; US public domain)
is the textual authority; the Google Books OCR was used only as an extraction aid
and was corrected against the scan. Complete provenance for every extract is
